Digital Sunset Sail, 8730 Sunset Towers
An 80-foot curved LED sail on the facade of 8730 Sunset Towers, facing the Sunset Strip.

The Digital Sunset Sail on the facade of 8730 Sunset Towers, Sunset Boulevard.
The brief. Not a billboard bolted to a wall. The building called for a display that read as part of the architecture — a sail shape, curving the full 80-foot height of the facade, seen from the street at speed and from across the boulevard.
The build. A fluid shape and a rigid display do not naturally agree. The curve was mapped in CAD before anything was cut, so the 6.35mm surface would close with no gaps across its full height. Every panel frame was then CNC-machined to its own angle — standard cabinets would have faceted the curve rather than followed it.
The result. A DOOH surface that works as architecture when it is dark and as advertising when it is lit, on one of the most-photographed streets in Los Angeles.

The full 80-foot vertical curve, built from 4 × 4 ft panels at 6.35mm.
